Sara Simmons is just passionate about art! Beginning in early childhood, and continuing uninterrupted, throughout her life, Sara has poured significant effort into creating works of art. 

 

She earned a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in Studio Art, with a focus on Painting, and Sociology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She later completed her Master’s Degree in Public Administration (concentrating in Arts Administration and Nonprofit Management) from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After nearly ten years in the nonprofit art field, she is now happy to be on staff at UNC Charlotte. 

 

Through her artwork, Sara enjoys connecting with her subjects and engaging the viewer with the intricacy of her work. She works primarily in acrylic paint, on canvas or wood panel, in highly detailed and richly colorful pieces.  

 

Her work has been exhibited locally, in Charlotte, through organizations such as SouthEnd ARTS, UNC Charlotte, and Charlotte Art League, and regionally at Artists Collective Spartanburg.
